K I R S T E N   S A V A G E

My oil paintings focus on open-ended concepts that inspire critical thinking and personal reflection.  The thematic center of my artwork is a person assuming an attitude of meditation and inward exploration.  The solidarity of the subject is developed through the use of contrast, deep hue and a simplified landscape.  The single figure creates a space perceived as a microcosm, a world unto itself.  In such a hectic world, I seek solace in imagery that encourages the viewer to stop and think.  The result is a unique style that is accessible and inspirational.

After earning my BFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore I relocated to Colorado in 2001 where I have enjoyed becoming immersed in community arts.  I have been teaching painting classes for six years and have served as a mentor for local high school students.  Through such prominent juried shows as the Richard Schmidt Fine Art Auction, the Estes Park Plein Air show, the Art Students League of Denver Summer Art Market and the Art & Soul gala, I have found an appreciation for my artwork with collectors nationwide.
